Baby boomers 'feeling good' about surgery
19/02/2008

Baby boomers are turning to cosmetic surgery to defy the signs of ageing, it has been reported.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the industry is thriving by huge numbers of boomers purchasing procedures from chemical peels to liposuction.
The newspaper cites figures from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons which revealed 45 per cent of patients in 2006 were aged between 45 and 54 and 26 per cent were aged 55 and over.
Debra Bergman of Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons said: "They want to maintain their youthful appearance."
Lydia Pelly, a patient of Sando Jones Aker Cosmetic Plastic Surgery practice, told the publication that her tummy tuck was worth every penny.
"When your clothes fit and your husband says 'You look hot,' at 50-years-old, it really makes you feel good," she explained.
In the UK, 91 per cent of cosmetic surgery procedures were carried out on females last year, according to figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
