Boob jobs 'popular among young women'
30/11/2007
Younger women are improving the size of their busts with cosmetic surgery, according to the Shield.
The newspaper reports that 9,104 American women aged between 18 and 19 had boob jobs during 2006, according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Sophomore at Syracuse University Kelsie Leon told the newspaper that she had always had the body of a gymnast - muscular, slim and flat-chested.
She said that when she started college she decided she wanted to change the size of her bust from a 32A- to a 34C.
"My parents were concerned about me being happy and if it was something that was going to make me feel better about myself, they had no qualms," said Ms Leon.
She interviewed three different surgeons, she continued, explaining that on finding the right one for her she had no fears about her operation.
A survey by Medicard Finance and Plastic Surgery Statistics Canada found that 80 per cent of female cosmetic surgery patients research all the options available to them before making decisions about their enhancement.
