Business workers 'having surgery to get ahead'

28/11/2007

There has been an increase in corporate workers choosing to have cosmetic surgery, according to Indian cosmetic surgeons.

Reported by Mid Day, a website dedicated to Mumbai, there is a demand developing for good-looking employees, leading to many opting for surgery as a confidence-boost or to appear more presentable.

It claims there has been a 200 per cent rise in cosmetic surgery demand over the last ten years and that this can be attributed to safer, more efficient, and cost-effective techniques.

"Good looks can be used to gain entry in an organisation, but in the long run, you must rely on intellect, efficiency and hard work to back it up," advised Adman Prahlad Kakar.

He explained that having a good-looking employee is beneficial to an employer as that worker represents the company.

Mintel International research group found that British people will have over a million cosmetic surgery procedures a year by 2009.
