Concerns raised over 'boob job' piggy bank

02/12/2008

A website aimed at young girls has been criticised for promoting saving money for breast surgery.

Online retailer Wake Up Frankie! mainly targets teenagers and sells clothes and accessories for this market.

But the American site has been condemned by parents for selling a pink ceramic piggy bank with the words Boob Job painted on the outside.

The pink pot, which is also adorned with dollar signs, appears to imply that money saved inside should go towards having breast augmentation.

Speaking to the Telegraph, mother of two Louise Colley, said: "I would never give this as a present to any young girl, it just doesn''t seem right.

"Just because a girl is 13 or over doesn''t mean she should be encouraged to think about major cosmetic surgery."

Boob jobs remain a popular option for young women who would like to increase the size of their breasts.

They are often inspired by pictures of celebrities in magazines such as Jordan and Chantelle Houghton.
