Cosmetic surgery 'becoming the norm' for brides
24/06/2008

The increasing trend of delaying marriage until later years has fuelled a rise in the number of brides seeking anti-ageing cosmetic surgery for their big day.
According to cosmetic surgeon Mike Comins, cosmetic surgery is becoming the next step in women''s pre-wedding preparations, reports the Telegraph.
He said that sometimes the bride-to-be will bring along her mother or even her groom for some last-minute cosmetic treatments.
Often women try on their wedding dress and wish they had walked down the aisle when they were younger and therefore surgery is one way of recapturing their ideal, said psychologist Linda Papadopolous.
Fellow psychologist Kerri McPherson told the newspaper that she does not think the trend is evidence that women are becoming obsessed with cosmetic surgery, but that it is simply "more available and affordable" these days.
"Historically, brides have always wanted to look attractive and used corsets or whatever to achieve it," she explained. "This is just the mechanism of our generation."
Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr Azizzadeh has warned that people should always ensure they give themselves enough time between a procedure and their big day to allow bruising or swelling to go down.
