Dermal fillers to be promoted on TV

24/06/2008

An injectable dermal filler is to become the first ever "cosmaceutical" product to be advertised on European television.

Manufacturer Q-Med is to promote Restylane as the perfect product for those who are dissatisfied with cosmetic creams but still not ready to have full cosmetic surgery.

"Restylane was the first dermal filler to market over 12 years ago and is now the leading dermal filler worldwide with over nine million treatments performed," said managing director Colette Skilling.

Ms Skilling added that "the time was right" to advertise the product as research has found that consumers are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the results of anti-ageing skincare cream.

Restylane is a "clinically proven and credible alternative", she claimed, explaining that it is designed to smooth wrinkles around the nose and mouth area.

According to a Mintel industry forecast, the cosmetic surgery sector will reach the £1 billion mark this year, with non-surgical procedures such as dermal fillers and Botox fuelling the rise.
