Eighties bands get surgical makeover

16/05/2008

This summer, a new programme about cosmetic surgery will be screened on Living TV.

Pop Goes the Band is a six-part series reuniting a range of eighties music bands and giving them cosmetic surgery to regain their youth.

Although it has not yet been revealed which bands will feature in the show, it has been reported that the acts will perform a comeback gig once their transformations are complete.

The Guardian states that the programme will be produced by Natalka Znak and Richard Cowles, the team responsible for I''m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.

It has been previously claimed that television programmes and the internet have led to an increase in cosmetic surgery procedures.

Surgeons Dr Randolph Robinson and Dr Jeremy Williams claimed that media focus has made it more of an everyday issue.

"People know their options and are demanding the best when it comes to choice and results," said Dr Robinson.
