Esther Rantzen: Only lasting solution to ageing is surgery
27/06/2008

The only real solution to preventing the signs of ageing on a permanent basis is to have cosmetic surgery, a television presenter has claimed.
In her Daily Mail guide to growing old gracefully, Esther Rantzen said that Botox will stop wrinkles and lines from appearing but only temporarily.
The 68-year-old added that cosmetic surgery is the only answer for people who want to appear youthful for a longer period of time.
She said: "The only lasting solution to the passing of time is surgery - the facelift, brow-lift and all the other little nips and tucks.
"They will turn the clock back maybe ten years, provided you have the joint investments of money and time."
Esther recommended that individuals who are trying to prevent the signs of ageing should smile as often as they could as this instantly plumps up the cheeks.
Last year, there were 32,453 cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the UK, according to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
