Eyelid surgery 'can make people look happier'

Even the most minor cosmetic surgery on the eye area can significantly alter the way a person is perceived by others, it has been claimed.
According to a study in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, many patients seeking facial cosmetic surgery complain that people often tell them they look tired.
ASPS member and study co-author John Persing explained that people with slightly dropped eyelids or wrinkles in that area often look more tired and unhappy than others.
The study also found that by raising the lower eyelid, people looked happier.
"Facial expression should be a factor in how patients and their plastic surgeons select various rejuvenation procedures," he said. "Even the slightest modification can elicit profound changes in how others perceive us."
A recent ASPS study has revealed that injecting volume into a fat compartment in the cheek can improve people''s appearance in the nose, eyes and mouth area.
