Facelift joins list of quickie operations

A Texas cosmetic surgeon has created what he describes as a facelift for busy professionals who cannot afford to spend time in hospital.

Dr Michel Siegel says the Executive Lift will allow the patient to be back in work within 48 to 72 hours of undergoing surgery.

The procedure itself takes just 45 minutes and uses local anaesthetic, with what Dr Siegel describes as minimal bruising.

He says that the procedure "repositions" certain facial structures to make them look younger.

The announcement follows a similar revelation recently, when a London conference of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons was told that it is now possible to perform breast augmentation in as little as half an hour.

And the Chicago Sun-Times reported last week that neck tightening procedures can also now be carried out in around an hour.

The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic and in an office setting, the newspaper claims.
