Increase in 'quick' cosmetic procedures
19/12/2007
Cosmetic surgery patients are demanding dramatic results in the shortest possible time, it has been reported.
According to the Indian Daily News & Analysis website, Christmas and New Year parties have led to an increase in the number of people seeking treatment in their lunch hour.
Dr Viral Desai, cosmetic and plastic surgeon, told the news provider that around 60 per cent of his patients want an enhanced appearance in a short period of time and that the best treatments to fulfil this need are Botox and fillers.
"Lip and cheek fillers are in high demand as they add a luscious look to the lips and fullness to cheeks," he commented.
However, Dr Desai added that some patients demand the impossible and that he has to explain that some forms of cosmetic surgery cannot be achieved in a short period of time.
The New Straits Times recently attributed the growing demand for cosmetic surgery to the acceptance of the industry. It claimed that it is becoming increasingly common for people to have treatment to delay the signs of ageing.
