Madonna - possible eyelift?

Fresh rumours have arisen concerning Madonna the Queen of pop and cosmetic surgery.

After being photographed leaving her London gym with bruising around the eyes, newspapers have speculated the 49-year-old singer may have had surgery to remove the signs of ageing.

Despite attempting to cover her black eye with dark sunglasses, journalists claim it was plain to see the dark marks.

Plastic surgeon Apostolos Gaitanis told the London Evening Standard that it is "unusual" to have such a flawless complexion and youthful appearance at her age without cosmetic surgery.

"It''s possible she''s had an eyelift or an injection of filler to remove eye bags," he added.

The reports follow similar speculation in 2003, where Madonna was seen with similar marks in a Hollywood hotel.

However, the star has never confirmed or denied the claims.

A Saga magazine study found that the eyelifts are the most popular surgical procedure among the over 50s.
