Men 'boost' cosmetic surgery market
29/05/2008

Men are seeking cosmetic surgery treatments because of their own desire to improve their appearance, it has been claimed.
Plastic surgeon Dr Ronald Downs told the South Bend Tribune that the rise in male patients is not down to the influence of wives or girlfriends, but simply a change in attitude towards treatments.
He said that the majority of his patients were aged between 35 and 55 and simply wanted to stay looking good.
Although men are boosting the cosmetic surgery market, Dr Downs claimed that it is the non-surgical sector that is benefiting the most from the trend.
"I think the non-surgical and non-down time aspect is what''s attractive to everybody," he explained. "I think both of those reasons are drawing men into it."
It has been claimed that males are taking more care of their appearance in general, and Verdict Research recently forecast a 7.7 per cent growth in the men''s health and beauty product market this year.
