Men 'go for eyelid surgery and lipo'

Male cosmetic surgery is becoming "more socially acceptable", it has been claimed.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), there were 2,881 male cosmetic procedures carried out in the UK last year, with rhinoplasty, liposuction and eyelid surgery being the most popular.

BAAPS president Douglas McGeorge commented: "More and more men are coming forward and considering things like having their eyes done.

"If you''ve got tired eyes, it doesn''t matter what the rest of you looks like - you''re still not [looking] as tired."

Mr McGeorge claimed that if people were allowed one cosmetic surgery operation in life, they would choose to have their eyes done.

However, he added that liposuction is a good procedure to consider as many people are eating too much these days.

Although it is not a good replacement for dieting and eating well, it is effective procedure for "re-contouring" the body, he explained.
