Miss New York dismisses boob job claims

Miss New York, who is competing to be Miss America, has dismissed rumours that she has had cosmetic surgery.

Leigh-Taylor Smith, has some "recognisable assets", according to the Brooklyn Paper, and pictures in a previous edition of the newspaper have led people to believe she has had cosmetic surgery.

However, the 22-year-old said: "I''ve never had cosmetic surgery," and added that this does not mean she is against it as a way of improving someone''s body confidence.

"If it makes a woman - or a man - feel more comfortable with themselves, they should go ahead," she added. "But I''ve never had it."

Despite her claim, some Brooklyn residents remain unconvinced. One observer described Ms Smith''s bust as "too perfect", while another added that he believes it has been surgically enhanced.

Breast augmentation was the second-most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the US last year. Figures from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons show it was beaten only by Botox.
