Moobs surgery 'life changing'

15/05/2008

A 23-year-old father has explained how cosmetic surgery on his man breasts has changed his life.

Lee Jardine explained that he had felt so embarrassed about his male boobs, known medically as gynecomastia, that he could not even take his son swimming.

However, after an interview with the Mansfield Chad, Mr Jardine''s plight was picked up on by a number of television programmes where he explained how his condition had led to depression.

A long-lost aunt who saw one of his interviews got in touch and offered to pay half of the operation, he told the newspaper, meaning he could go ahead with the cosmetic surgery.

Following a breast reduction operation, Mr Jardine claimed he is enjoying life again.

"The operation is all I wanted and now I will be able to do normal things without feeling like I am being stared at," he said. "Taking my son swimming is top of the list."

In 2007, the number of male breast reduction operations increased by 27 per cent, reported the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
