Nose lengthening now possible, conference told

A cosmetic surgeon has told a conference in London that he has been successful in his search for what some describe as the holy grail of rhinoplasty (nose surgery).
Yesterday, Martin Kelly revealed to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) that he had discovered how to lengthen a short nose, the Guardian reports.
Requests for the procedure are quite common, the surgeon said, giving drug abuse and physical trauma as two examples of nasal damage that might require it, in addition to the more obvious birth defects.
"There are ''cocaine noses'', where the septum has disintegration because of abuse, and there are trauma patients whose nose has collapsed after an accident or illness," said Mr Kelly.
He described successfully lengthening a short nose as the most difficult operation in nasal cosmetic surgery.
Recent celebrity rhinoplasty patients include singer Ashlee Simpson, who had the operation to improve both her look and her breathing, her father recently said.
