UK women 'stuffing their bras'
31/01/2008
One-third of UK women fake the size of their breasts to appear more attractive to the opposite sex, it has been revealed.
Supplement firm Voluptuo reports that 35 per cent of respondents to the survey regularly pad their bras to make their boobs look bigger and an additional 12 per cent use plastic ''chicken fillets'' or tissue to enhance their cup size.
It also found that 23 per cent would prefer it if their chest was bigger and 22 per cent would love to have a better cleavage, claiming it would make them feel more womanly.
Three in ten of the women polled admitted they have considered cosmetic surgery to achieve their ideal figure.
Clinical psychologist Dr Angharad Cooney commented: "The survey suggests that the self-esteem of many women is influenced by their perception of their body, especially the size of their breasts."
She said that this can often result in women feeling that femininity and attractiveness are to do with their appearance alone.
A Mintel survey recently revealed that breast augmentation is the fastest growing sector of the UK cosmetic surgery industry.
