Women 'shun' skincare in favour of surgery
21/02/2008

Over a quarter of women are planning to have cosmetic surgery to make them look younger, a new survey has found.
Research by anti-spot treatment Freederm Gel found that 27 per cent of females predict they will surgically enhance their looks in the future and a further three per cent admitted they have already done so.
According to the firm, women are not taking simple steps to keep their skin clear and young, such as removing their makeup before going to bed or using sun cream.
The survey revealed that 46 per cent do not protect themselves from damaging UV rays, even in the summer, 40 per cent never fully cleanse and 27 per cent smoke, which is damaging for the skin.
In the US, the Indianapolis Star reports that the ageing generation of baby boomers are turning to cosmetic surgery in order to defy the signs of growing old.
Lydia Pelly, a cosmetic surgery patient, told the newspaper: "50 is the new 40 and I don''t look 50."
