Younger women seek Botox, older want facelifts

The average age of people seeking cosmetic surgery has increased by two years since 2002, it has been reported.
A survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) has revealed that the baby boomer generation are the driving force behind the popularity of liposuction and facelifts.
Women aged between 18 and 34 however, were three times more likely than women aged between 35 and 64 to have non-invasive treatments such as Botox performed at a medical spa.
Of the women who would consider having treatment at such a clinic, more than half (52.3 per cent) said they would not mind if a fully-qualified physician was not present during the procedure.
AACS president Steven Hopping warned that the public need to be more educated on the dangers of medical spas.
"There are good and bad medspas out there and we want the public to be aware, ask questions and always make sure there is a qualified physician doing the procedure," he said. "If not, don''t have it done."
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has predicted that cosmetic surgery procedures will quadruple by 2015.
