Q Will I meet my surgeon before the day of my procedure?
A

Yes you will. You’ll meet for an initial consultation to find out what you have in mind, which you’ll discuss in depth. You’ll also meet on the day of surgery, where your surgeon and anaesthetist will run through everything again. After the procedure your surgeon will visit you again for a chat about how things went, and you’ll also meet for regular follow up checks to ensure healing is going well.

Q Will I need and overnight stay in hospital?
A

Most surgery requires an overnight stay, however it does depend on the procedure, which your surgeon will discuss with you on your first consultation.

Non-surgical procedures are fairly quick, usually half and hour to an hour and do not require a hospital stay.

Q Are the procedures carried out in your clinics?
A

Non surgical procedures are yes, but surgery is carried out elsewhere in well equipped environments. We use a specialist Northern Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Manchester and another based in London.

Q If I have a non-surgical procedure can I go back to work afterwards?
A

Yes. It’s usually a very quick procedure and no anaesthetic is involved so you can carry on with your usual, everyday tasks afterwards.

Q Can I get financial help to pay for my surgery?
A

Yes, we’ve teamed up with an independent financial partner to offer you some great rates and a range of flexible, affordable options. Click here to find out more.

Q Will I need someone to help me get home after surgery?
A

If you are going under anaesthetic then you’ll need a chaperone as we don’t recommend driving after surgery. If you need help, we can arrange this for you. Call 08000 14 10 14 to find out more.

Q What happens if I have some questions once I’m home?
A

You can call our 24 hour aftercare help line the details of which are provided in the patient pack.  A registered nurse will then be able to answer all your queries.

Q Will I have my own private room?
A

Yes you will.

Q Will I see my surgeon after surgery?
A

Yes, your surgeon will visit you after the procedure. You’ll also find most surgery requires regular, follow up checks to ensure everything is healing well. You’ll be advised on this at your consultation.

Q Will I need regular check ups afterwards?
A

You’ll find most surgery requires regular, follow up checks to ensure everything is healing well. You’ll be advised on this at your consultation, and you may be given a schedule of aftercare checks with a nurse or your surgeon.

Q Will I have stitches?
A

This depends on your procedure, but most stitches tend to be dissolvable. Your surgeon will advise you on this at your consultation.

Q Will I have visible scars?
A

This very much depends on your procedure. Your surgeon will advise you during your consultation.

Q Do I need to see my GP first?
A

It’s always good to involve your GP, however if you don’t wish to notify yours we can discuss the implications at your consultation.

Q I smoke. Will this be a problem?
A

We’d always advise you to stop smoking before your procedure. Nicotine constricts blood vessels and can cause excessive bleeding. It also inhibits healing.

Q How can I prepare for my surgery?
A

At your consultation you’ll be given a guide informing you of many Do’s and Dont’s for before and after surgery to help you have a comfortable, stress-free experience.

Q Is there anything I shouldn’t do after a non-surgical procedure?
A

It will depend on the procedure.  An example is that you may need to avoid bright sunshine for a short period afterwards.

Q Is there any practical help I might need?
A

You may need to think about minimising stresses or movements afterwards especially for something like a tummy tuck. You could ensure you have support around the home and even consider buying your groceries online, to reduce strenuous lifting and bending.

Q Will a breast enlargement affect breast feeding?
A

Usually not, but for more information contact the Department of Health.

Q Will a breast enlargement affect any subsequent mammograms?
A

Usually not, but for more information contact the Department of Health,or contact BAAPS or BAPRAS.

Q Can you do anything for excessively sweaty hands?
A

Yes, our muscle relaxants can be painlessly injected into the wrists to temporarily eliminate sweating. You’ll need regular top ups around every 6 months.
