Advanced Laser Liposuction
As with traditional liposuction, Advanced Laser Lipolysis is not a weight loss procedure but is most suited to remove the smaller unwanted areas of fat that simply can't be shifted through diet and excercise.
Fat removal is a becoming an increasingly popular treatment for men and Advanced Laser Lipolysis is great for targeting smaller more intricate areas of fat.
The benefit of Advanced Laser Lipo over some other non surgical or 'less invasive' options you may have heard of, for example 'Smart Lipo' and Liposonix, is that whilst many of these older generation methods do break down the fat, they do not actually remove the fat from the body. This is why Advanced Laser Lipolysis is proving so successful. This latest technique combines Liposculpture with the latest laser technology.
The Advanced Laser Liposuction procedure is performed by making tiny incisions in the skin where a fine fiber optic laser is inserted. The incisions are no more than two to three millimeters in dimension. The laser emits energy which is used to help break down the fat cells essentially melting the fat so it can easily be removed from the body. This is essentially the 'Lipolysis' part of the procedure. The surgeon will then extract the fat by inserting a fine cannula in the same incision. The Laser is then re-introduced to stimulate skin contraction and tightening to ensure that a great final result is achieved and you are not left with loose skin once the fat has been removed. The length of the procedure depends on how many areas you're having treated. Usually no more than two areas are performed at the same time as this is quite an intricate process. On average, between 500mls and one litre of fat can be realistically removed at one time. For that reason people are often keen to come back for more treatment on different areas.
You may want to rest and relax in a room afterwards for a short time after the procedure, but normal activities can usually be resumed the following day. You may experience some bruising, swelling and tenderness for a few days. You will need to wear a compression garment for seven days 24 hours a day and then for another 7 days during the daytime. This is to help reduce the swelling. It is advised to avoid vigorous exercise (running, gym) or sports for 7 days after this procedure. Providing your job is not too physically demanding, you should be able to return to work the next day!
With Advanced Laser Lipolysis, patients can usually see a result from day one as the fat has been removed from the area treated but the results do improve gradually over a number of weeks. The full results may take up to six to twelve months to be seen.
At MYA we are fortunate enough to have Liposuction specialists who are experts in both surgical and non surgical fat removal. It is important to understand the difference between the two procedure and to identify which procedure you would be most suited to.
