Dry, Brittle Texture

Daily styling with straighteners and blow dryers can strip your hair of moisture, leaving it weak, lifeless and prone to frizz.

How to Fix It

If leaving your hair to dry naturally or going without straighteners just isn’t an option, a weekly deep conditioning treatment could be the answer to silky smooth hair. A rich, deep conditioner will help replenish the oils your hair has lost through styling with heat. The next time you wash your hair, simply massage a deep conditioner into your hair and wrap it in a warm towel. Let it work its magic for around 30 minutes – just enough time to catch an episode of Friends.  

Split Ends

When hair becomes weak, it begins to break near the end of each strand. Regularly styling with heat or using harsh products, such as bleach, are usually the main culprits.

How to Fix It

To stop the splits in their tracks, book in for a trim every six to eight weeks. Losing some length may be a bit of a pain but doing nothing about your split ends will allow them to work their way up each hair shaft, causing more damage over time.

Most of us normally shed up to 100 hairs a day, but if you’ve noticed that you’re shedding more than usual or there’s been more hair in your brush lately, it’s time to rescue your strands. Diet and stress are just two of the factors that contribute to an increase in the amount of hair you shed.

How to Fix It

The remedy is at your fingertips. Literally. Yes, a daily scalp massage can be the key to boosting circulation in your scalp, which can help slow down shedding. Take time to gently rub your scalp with your fingertips, using both hands and moving in a circular motion as you work your way around your head. Relaxing for you yet stimulating for your scalp, this is best done just before bedtime.

Lacking Shine

If your hair looks dull and is missing its healthy lustre, swapping your usual hair products could be the secret to glossy hair.

How to Fix It

Start off by picking the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Rich, heavy conditioners can actually weigh down some hair types, resulting in a dull finish. Once washed, seal in shine with a cool rinse in the shower.

The place to start tackling those tangles is the shower. Work conditioner into wet hair with a paddle brush or a wide-toothed comb, gently detangling from the ends up then pat or blot your hair dry instead of rubbing it with a towel.
