Is bigger always better? Most of you would say "yes!" when talking about breasts but not in the case of American actress Ariel Winter. The 17 year old star of the award winning sitcom Modern Family has recently attended her first red carpet event following breast reduction surgery.

The 5’1 petite star had F cup breasts from the age of 15 and she opened up in a recent interview with Glamour magazine stating how emotionally and physically draining it was to find clothes and bras to fit and disguise them Standing up straight for hours on set would prove difficult: “It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain.” Large breasts run in Ariel’s family with a number of cousins having previously gone through with breast reduction surgery at a young age too. Despite the family trend, the actress shares that the procedure was something she had decided to have on her own:

I got it for myself, I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right. I was buying clothes and crying as I put them on, I was so happy. You just feel so relieved and excited. You feel like a new person. You feel like this is how I was supposed to be.

Breast reduction surgery can be life changing for both emotional and physical reasons. Breasts that are too large can cause significant pain through back pain and posture issues. Developing large breasts at such a young age can also attract unwanted attention, finding clothes to fit your frame can prove difficult and it can be hard to dress age appropriate as they are hard to disguise. It is understandable why many woman feel a breast reduction will give them renewed body confidence.
