After being the target of online trolling, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini took to Instagram with a positive message to remind us all to stick together and support other women. The post follows the barrage of comments the X-Factor judge has faced from angry One Direction fans after her romance with 1D’s Liam Payne was revealed at the end of February.
With X Factor months away, the former Girls Aloud singer has already had a rollercoaster of a year after recently ending her marriage to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, as well as fronting a new L'Oreal Paris campaign. Breaking the hearts of 1D fans all over the world, the secret three-month-long romance was confirmed when a shirtless Liam posted a picture on Instagram of the loved-up pair together. The 32-year-old hit out at trolls that have criticised the 10 year age gap between her and the Story Of My Life singer. Posting an inspirational quote, she had this to say to her 2.4 million followers: “It can be so hard at times being a girl, for sooo many reasons! But we don't have to make it harder for each other. Why do we still feel the need to do that? I don't understand it. I have always been a girls’ girl, and love other strong women. That is why I surround myself with them, and that is why I try to empower others. Trying to pull another person down only speaks volumes about your character! And not a thing about theirs. There's nothing more powerful or beautiful than an inspiring, strong women that you can look up to or turn to... Be one!!!” This isn’t the first time Cheryl’s spoken out against the abuse. Just after news of their relationship emerged, she had to face the wrath of Liam’s fans with one branding her a 'repulsive whore'. In response, she briefly changed her bio to: “When people hate on you, it’s because you’ve got something they want.” Well said, Cheryl! We couldn’t agree more, plus these two make a gorgeous couple.
