Women who have had a boob job
in the past or who intend to do so in the future need not worry about the effects the implants can have on breastfeeding.
According to US-based plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell Aston, having a breast augmentation
has no impact on a woman’s ability to produce milk as the implants are entirely separate from the nipple ducts.
The surgeon used former Girls of the Playboy Mansion star and ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner Kendra Wilkinson as an example.
The 24-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her first child, recently claimed that she was surprised to learn that she could breastfeed given the size of her implants.
But Dr Aston explained to Make Me Heal: "There should not be any interference between her breast implants
and her milk ducts. However, the breasts routinely change (not for the better) following breastfeeding regardless of implants."
Meanwhile, former Sugababes singer Mutya Buena recently had an augmentation to make her breasts firmer, because she claimed that giving birth to her daughter changed them a lot, the News of the World reported.
