For both men and women, a slender and flat stomach is highly desirable. It can boost confidence as well as creating a tighter and more youthful looking abdomen. Many people opt for abdominoplasty surgery, more often referred to as a tummy tuck, for different reasons. Weight loss, aging, or multiple pregnancies can all contribute to damaged muscles and unwanted excess skin.
Our Leeds Clinic
Our MYA clinic in Leeds was our first clinic, which was opened in 2007. Occupying a prime location in the centre of the city, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly and specialist team. Mr Mounir carries out our abdominoplasty procedures in Leeds, whilst Jenny the clinic nurse will take care of your pre and post-op care.
A complex procedure for a tummy tuck can take between 1.5-3 hours, and include either a 1 or 2-night stay in hospital. A 2-night stay will be required the patient is having multiple procedures i.e. liposuction and a tummy tuck.
One incision is made across the lower abdomen with another around the navel, with the muscles then pulled tighter and stitched into position. Once any excess skin and fat are removed, a new navel will be created.
A mini tummy tuck to the lower area of the abdomen may be suggested by your surgeon if you have a small amount of excess skin. With a mini tummy tuck procedure, muscle repair is not necessary meaning the navel will not need to be repositioned and the incision across the lower abdomen is usually smaller.
After the procedure
A rest period of 7-14 days is required after undergoing a tummy tuck. During the first few days your mobility will be restricted. We will give you a compression garment which will assist with healing as well as reducing swelling and bruising. Dissolvable stitches are commonly used; you’ll therefore need to keep the area clean and dry during the initial stages of your recovery. It will usually be 6 weeks before you can return to light physical activity.
