Sometimes, even the strictest of exercise regimes and healthy eating plans won’t shift stubborn weight, leading us to dislike certain parts of our bodies. This is when many people turn to liposuction to remove those unwanted fatty areas.
At MYA Bristol, there are 3 types of liposuction available: Vaser liposuction, laser liposuction and traditional liposuction. You’ll receive professional advice from our highly skilled team about which is the best liposuction procedure for you.

Understanding Liposuction Surgery
It’s important that you don’t turn to liposuction to tackle weight problems. We recommend you speak to your GP if this is something you are dealing with. Before your MYA consultation, we’ll measure your body mass index (BMI) to determine your suitability for liposuction.
You must be aware that there are physiological limitations on the amount of fat that can be removed in one procedure. You can discuss this with your surgeon during your consultation to make sure you have realistic expectations of your liposuction surgery.
Liposuction involves the removal of fat with the use of a hollow steel tube (a cannula) with the assistance of a vacuum to reshape the area of treatment. The procedure is carried out using general or local anaesthetic.
Liposuction allows for multiple areas to be treated at one time, so the procedure can vary from 30 minutes – 2 hours. Post-procedure, you’ll have incision sights so it is compulsory to wear the garment supplied to you for 6 weeks to reduce swelling and achieve the best results. We recommend you take 7-10 days off work after your procedure to ensure a healthy recovery. Check out our before and after photos to see the expert work of our surgeons.
