Understanding Rhinoplasty Surgery
There are two forms of rhinoplasty. They are:
Closed Rhino – This does not affect the nose skin. The nose is reshaped through incisions made inside the nose.
Open Rhino – Incisions are made in between the nostrils on the columella (the small column of skin between the two nostrils).
The rhinoplasty procedure is carried out using general anaesthetic. Taking approximately 2 hours, the procedure will leave you with a splint across your nose and packing in your nostrils; the packing will be removed before you are discharged. We suggest taking 7-10 days off work to ensure a healthy recovery. At around day 10, the splint will be removed from your nose (this will be advised by your surgeon) by the clinic nurse. Swelling can take up to 1 year to fully subside so final results are not seen until then. See our before and after photos here.
