Commonly referred to as a ‘nose job’ or nose reshaping, rhinoplasty is one of the most impactful cosmetic procedures. Taking around 2 hours to complete, the procedure can bring life changing confidence to patients.
It can involve refining the bridge, tip or overall profile of the nose depending on your requirements. Many of our patients choose rhinoplasty due to being self-conscious of the nose they have inherited or injured being out of proportion or having unsightly bumps.
Understanding Rhinoplasty Surgery
Depending on what is required from the procedure, there are two types of rhinoplasty that can be carried out.
Closed Rhino involves reshaping the nose without disturbing any of the skin. The surgical incisions are made inside the nose.
Open Rhino uses an incision in between the nostrils on the small column of skin that separates them, called the columella.
Both of the above procedures are carried out under general anaesthetic. After the procedure you will have packing in your nostrils and a splint across your nose, with the packing removed before you are discharged. We advise a period of 7 – 10 days off work after the procedure. The splint will then be removed around day 10 by the clinic nurse, with the exact date dependant on the advice of the surgeon. See our before and after pages to get an idea of what to expect.
