Procedure Overview

The blepharoplasty procedure, commonly referred to as eye bag removal surgery or eyelid surgery, is a procedure in which the excess skin and fat surrounding the upper and lower eyelids is removed so that the eyes do not appear drooped or hooded. The results of this procedure will leave you with a fresh and younger looking face.

Both men and women consider this procedure to remove droopy eyelids or hereditary puffiness under the eyes, in turn, waking up a tired face and creating a brighter, happier expression. If you suffer from glaucoma or dry eyes, you must consult an eye specialist or ophthalmologist, before considering the procedure.

Male eye bag removal is performed under general anaesthetic. If you choose lower lid surgery, an incision is made under the lower lashes or inside the eyelid, where excess tissue is removed. With upper eyelid surgery, an incision is made along the natural crease of the eyelid where surplus tissue is then taken away.

The blepharoplasty procedure usually requires an overnight stay in hospital and 1 week off work is advised to recover. However, the majority of our patients return to work between 7 and 14 days after surgery, once the bruising and swelling has reduced.
