Patient Story

  • Why did you want the procedure?

I decided ten years ago at 15 that I wanted breast reduction surgery, I was already a FF cup at that point and I hated it.

I suffered terribly with back pain, particularly in my lower back and shoulders. As well as bras being painful to wear and expensive to buy.

  • Why did you choose MYA?

I met several companies and while I liked all of them but one, MYA made me feel most comfortable from the moment I walked through the door and I felt like they really understood my requirements and knew what they were talking about, they didn’t need to read from a book or a leaflet.

  • How was your consultation?

My consultation was great. My surgeon went into detail about my surgery and the incisions he would make (he drew doodles!) and what result I could expect once healed.

  • How was the day of your procedure?

I had a 1pm admission where I was shown to my room and got comfortable. A very nice nurse came to ask me some questions and I had to do a compulsory pregnancy test.

My surgeon came to see me around 2pm and made his markings. I was taken down just after 3pm. I was prepped by the anaesthetist and all I remember after that was waking in recovery at around 6:50pm when I asked if it had been done! I was very disoriented from the anaesthetic and the morphine I’d been given. My surgeon came to see me and asked how I was, he also told me how much he removed but I’ve forgotten. I felt quite sick so I was given an anti sickness injection before being taken back to my room.

The nurses were brilliant in catering to my needs, providing me with painkillers when I needed and assuring my worries when I had a little bleeding.

  • How was your recovery?

My recovery was difficult but don’t let my experience put you off!

I was healing really well up until I was 5 weeks post op when the wound on my right breast began to re-open. It was described as a superficial open wound. It was as though a layer of skin had come away and my stitches had dissolved before my body was ready. My nurses and surgeon kept photographic records to measure any improvement over the coming weeks and there was very little so at 5 months post op, I had wound revision surgery which was very simple, used stitches and had them removed 2 weeks off.

  • Are you happy with your results?

    I LOVE MY RESULTS!
