    Hi all,

I was due to be having my BA on the 21st of November with Dr L Fiumara…

This morning I was asked if I would like to take a cancellation on the 24th October. Of course I’ve said yes! However I am now panicking!

My main question is what sort of things do I pack in my hospital bag? I’ve got the basics but if anyone has any recommendations I would be greatful.

It would be lovely to meet someone that will be there on the same day for moral support!

I am having 400cc UHP partial unders and I am bobbing it about pain levels after. I am a day case so can go home after, which I am kind of sceptical about, considering paying extra to stay over night and have someone look after me haha.

Is it worth the over night stay? Or is it better being at home! As much as I love my own bed, I am a nurse myself and the thought of being at home and something going wrong scares me to death!

So excited to be getting my new puppies but also apprehensive now it is so close!

    16 day count down!
Good luck to all the other October ladies

    Xxx

Hiya, I just came out Fitzroy on 5th, I wouldn’t worry about staying over night as I was a day case and was the first to be operated on but I didn’t leave til around 5pm, you will probably want to go home and sleep as the nurse comes in every 30 mins to take blood pressure and all u want to do is sleep- pain doesn’t kick in until night or the next day is when j had extreme pain and I have my pain killers but still in absolute agony!!!!!! So bloody sore! My partner has been a god send helping me do everything and we have three dogs so the house is hectic luckily no kids lol. One of my dogs is going for a sleep over at my friends tonight as he’s just too much and the medication is making me snappy I just want to be left alone.
So much easier sleeping on sofa than the bed I’m not sure why.
Regarding packing I just packed a zip up jumper comfey tracky bottoms and flip flops. They give you socks u can just pull the toes through when u put on flip flops.
All I took was jumper, tracky bottoms and my bra- that’s all you need. Xxx

What size dos u have and dos u have partials? Thank you for your reply! How do u feel looking at them? I bet it’s so strange having boobs! I am so looking forward to it.
Pain level doesn’t sound good tho! 🙁 I have no dogs but one child to look after…..
I’ve pre warned the better half that I am more than likely just going to want to bash the pain killers for a good week or so.
Apparently ice packs are awesome, I ordered some today so I can just put em in the freezer and go! Once ur over the pain I am sure u will love ur new puppies hahah.

Thank u for ur reply and I hope u feel better soon.

    Xxxxx

Hi, so exciting! I had my surgery in Fitzroy on tues this week and also had mine moved forward because a space opened up so I got everything ready quickly too! I was first in on the day but didn’t leave till 5.30 (though I think I could have gone at about 3.30 if I’d pushed for it). I found travelling home fine and am kind of glad I did because the pain was worse the next day.
I wont lie, I was in pain straight away but I have v strong chest muscles and had unders so think that may have contributed?!?
You don’t need much with you -just comfy clothes and a bra. I took a Macom and the nurse helped me put it on.
It was amazing in there -the nurses and doctors are so lovely and friendly, I thoroughly enjoyed myself! You feel like you’re in good hands. As I was going off to sleep on the operating table they were making me laugh and stroking my hand 🙂 it was really fun actually, and I’d been nervous right before.

    Hi.
I had a uplift and 300cc partials at the Fitzroy on the 30th sept. I didn’t go down till 7 and I was kept in because of the uplift . But I don’t think it’s necessary to stay in. My night nurse was horrible and only checked on me once!! I was discharged by 9am the next day after the drains came out . For the first couple of days the pain is ok just achy then after that I was fine don’t get me wrong I still have little pains now but nothing bad . I have two children which has been the hardest part of it all. I do recommend senna for straight after As the tablets make you so bunged up. But seriously I wouldn’t spend more money in staying over night . Xx

Hi, I’m under Dr Marcelino although the whole arrangement has been s confusing! Saw 2 surgeons and decided on him but was told he was away when I wanted it so would have the other and then all my paperwork says its him doing it. The clinic are awkward to get hold of too because of the hours I work. Not a clue what size bra to get for after and going to have to travel a long way home (although I’m staying overnight due to a pre-existing medical condition so they want to keep an eye on me). only got a week off work and 3 kids to go home to so extremely worried about the pain! xx

Rhian – you’ll have to get someone to help you with kids especially for the first three days maybe 4!!
I had to get someone to dog sit my French bull dog as he’s such a baby he was annoying the hell out of me and he likes cuddles and I def not been up for cuddles. I haven’t really hugged my partner since the 5th and sleep with so many pillows I think he is feeling abandoned but I don’t have any sexy in me cause all my spots have came out I’m pale and hust walk like I have bricks on my shoulder so def not feeling sexy
I had mr Marcelo at Fitzroy maybe he’s good maybe he’s not but he’s SO rushed whenever he talked to me before and after I did not realise I could ask for a different surgeon…
One thing is the straps that get put on are a bloody joke I get mine off tomorrow and I think I’ll kiss the nurse for taking it off !!!
Good luck with it – after the surgery Ul want to sleep but have nurse come every 30mins Ask her for pain killers as I did not realise you had to ask I just waited 5 hours hoping something was going to be given woops lol xxx

I have my initial consultation at Fitzroy this Saturday morning! So excited! Do you have the first consultation with a PC and is that the same one you’ll have through the whole time?
I bet you’ll be so happy after but nerves are normal 🙂 xx

Thanks Monique, thats a lot of help, pain is a worry so ill make sure I nag them every chance lol! my husband has taken the week off to help look after me and luckily we have nana’s and grandma’s close by who will take the boys out for a bit so i can rest! I’ve read not every one has to ear the straps so I was really hoping i would avoid it lol!! I’m a light sleeper anyway so I’m not expecting o get much in the fist few days. I’m really starting to worry about getting the right size but I guess they do this so often the surgeons know best! xxx
