Just wondered if anyone could help me or give me any advice, I’m having breast reduction surgery on 15th January. And I’ve been reading online about taking arnica tablets, so my friend very kindly bought me some from Holland & Barratt, the lady there said to take it 7 days before surgery and up to 5-7 days after, but I’ve also been reading online to take it 3 days before and also the night before? I’m so bloody confused ?… plus I’ve also been reading online to take Vitamic C tablets up to 2 weeks before surgery, any advice or help would be greatly appreciated xx

Hey! I had my surgery 15th December, I didn’t take anything before surgery, I did have quite dark bruising underneath but quickly faded out to yellow, and gone before I was 2 weeks post op. You could try contacting your patient coordinator to see what they advise on taking the arnica tablets, or if not I would go by what you were told for the specific ones you bought!

Good luck enjoy the new boobies! Xx

Hi lovely, how did your surgery go? Are you happy with your results? I contacted my PC And she said “Of course it is fine to take them, some people use them some don’t, there isn’t any evidence that it works but its worth a try. you can start from 2 weeks before x.” So I’ll start them next Monday and see what happens! ? thank you I’m so excited ? xx

Surgery went fine, I felt SO much better than what I thought I would afterwards and recovery isn’t even a quarter bad as what I was preparing for! I’ve just returned back to work this week and feeling alright! I’m pretty happy with my results from what I have so far, but they’re probably still changing a lot! The only thing is I just right now noticed a little stitch is sticking out so I’ll have to call my nurse tomorrow about that!

Make sure you pack some nice button up pyjamas and clothes, and a nice fluffy dressing gown and slippers! Xxx

Aww that’s good I’m so glad to hear your surgery went well! I think I’m just preparing myself for the worse ? it’s the unknown I don’t know what to expect lol! Trying not to over think the pain / recovery time too much. That’s good that you’ve stated back at work already ?? I’m having 6 weeks off, just to be totally back to normal cause my job is a lot of heavy lifting, running around etc… glad to hear that you’re happy with your results tho ? shall do, thanks for the heads up! Xxx

    +1

You’ll be totally fine I expected to be crying out in pain the absolute worst, but the worst thing was feeling mega tired! And you may well have a sore throat after surgery, the water post op is like drinking from heaven ?? I had a 2 night stay, surgery Saturday, home Monday and was out Xmas shopping on the Wednesday! It just actually feels like you’re wearing a bra that’s way too tight that’s all!

I’m three weeks post op exactly tomorrow so if you have any worries or need anything give me a message! Xxx
