    Hi girls,

I won’t go too into my situation but unfortunately I don’t have many people in my life that I can tell about this surgery. I have only told my best friend and cousin. The plan was for my best friend to come with me to hospital on the day of surgery, spend the night of my surgery in a nearby hotel, and spend the next night at my friend’s, who would then put me on a train the next day so I could go to my cousin’s house 2 hours away where she would look after me.

My surgery is next Wednesday and my friend has just told me that I am now no longer able to stay with them the Thursday night. They will still stay with me the Wednesday night in the hotel, but I will have to go to my cousin’s on Thursday.

I’m just worried that I’ll be too sore or nauseous to travel on a train for 2 hours the day after surgery? I’m having overs so apparently the pain isn’t as bad but could anyone please advise me on whether or not I’ll be ok to travel?

I know I could just stay another night in the hotel by myself but this surgery has already cost me almost ££££ including all the travel and everything I’ve had to buy. I really can’t justify spending anymore money on a hotel again as this was already way more than I expected it to be. I’m already going to have to buy another train ticket as I cant exchange the one I already paid for and I will now need to buy another one for the day before.

I was so excited for so long and now I’m so anxious. I never have any luck lol I should’ve known something would go wrong for me

Hey, the day after my surgery (i had unders) I travelled 2 hours in the car and the odd speed bump, pot hole hurt but other than that I was fine so can’t imagine a train journey will be much different. Only thing is carrying a bag or anything you won’t be able to do x

    Hey Maya Henry

What an awful situation to be in and your friend letting you down last minute 😮🙈
I had unders and I couldn’t get out of bed by myself the day after surgery I was in too much pain
I’m not sure how overs would be I’ve heard some feel good the next day and some didn’t it all depends on person to person
I don’t think you will be able to carry a bag either
it’ll be painful plus your not supposed to be picking heavy things up straight away
Ino you said you don’t really wanna be paying out any more for a hotel but if I was you ide stay in the hotel another night you might even be too tired to get the train the day after surgery
I hope you get it sorted xx

I had 325cc hp overs. I think I would have been fine to travel 2 hours on the train the next day but I do think you will need someone with you to carry your bags. I felt able to carry things, lift my arms however I didn’t do it because I didn’t want to cause any unnecessary damage! Can your cousin meet you and get the train back with you?

My cousin can’t meet me as she’s working that day as she didnt realise she’d need it off, plus I feel bad asking her to get a 2 hour train up to London just to meet me and then get a 2 hour train straight back.

My friend said he will help me onto the train with my case and my cousin said she will meet me at the station and help me off of it. If I don’t have to carry my bags do you guys think it will be ok? I know it’s difficult to predict and I will most likely just end up getting the train. I’m just frustrated as you said Pink to be let down last minute but I suppose theres not much else that I can do. Thanks for all your responses xx

I think you will be fine if you can be helped on/off the train. Even if you needed extra help, people are kind, if you asked someone to help you lift something because you just had an operation I’m sure they would be willing to help you! No one will leave you stranded if you explain your situation, I’ve seen station attendants helping people with bags etc all the time!

    Hey Maya Henry

i think you will be fine doing the 2 hours on your own on the train too
If your cousin and friend are helping you with your bags on and off the train
Maybe get a small carry case that you can pull along instead of a bag you have to lift if that makes sense

Hey! You will be fine! I had my surgery at 12 midday, was on a plane at 0945 the next morning as well as a 2 hour car journey home. Take your pain meds, get someone to help with bags and take it slow. It is hard but if i can do it anyone can, i am a bad patient lol.

Thank you so much girls, I feel so much more reassured now and all the excitement has come back! I’ll have a hand luggage size suitcase that you can push and pull but I plan on being helped completely onto the train and then completely off the train and into the car so I most probably won’t even be pushing and pulling.

Thanks again for your replies, only 4 days to go now! xx
