I am 18 days post op and have had this horrible sensitivity in my nipple and surrounding areas for over a week now. I cannot stand anything touching it. How long will this last? X

@joh27 I feel your pain haha! Although I wouldn’t say mine is horrible, they are just soooo incredibly sensitive, 100x more than they ever were before… im only 16 DPO and I’m told they will calm down over time but they haven’t done yet. I’ve read a lot on here where ladies have lost the feeling in their nipples altogether but I’ve gone the other way! Xxx

I’m in the same boat ladies! 8weeks P.O. and soooo sensitive still it’s driving me crazy!
Has anyone figured out a way to help any tricks that I can try to help?
The nurse did tell me to use aloe Vera lotion that’s been in the fridge which aids them for a short time when really bad but it’s not enough.

Think its to do with the tissue all healing and nerves. I’m 12 weeks po and still get a bit sensitive but went throygh a stage it was like putting my finger in a live socket lol i tried gentle massaging mine and it did help a bit.

Mine too and i am beyond 4 weeks, i cant stand anything touching them they get reallypainful! However i got back the (sexual) feeling in one boob but still cant stand clothes rubbing against it, however the other one is still completely numb but becomes painful if anything rubs against it, my doctor advised to gently rub the nipples to help the nerves reconnect to get your feelings back to normal (no pain just the sexual feel) apparently doing so is called disensitization, research it

I wonder of lanolin helps? Helps women with super sensitive sore nipples when breastfeeding x

My surgeon said we can desensitise them by applying something hot like a hot water bottle, then something cold, like ice cubes. Then rub them with something rough like an old towel, and then something smooth and soft. This helps expose the nerves to all the sensations it encounters and essentially is like turning off the car alarm!

I also read on a forum (real self) to use a vibrator on them haha, or at least something that vibrates, so er……if anyone gives it a try, let us know how it goes haha.

I couldn’t touch around my nip for weeks! I’m now 12 weeks post op, they feel fine to touch but I still have numb area’s under my nipple that I can’t feel. Sensitivity in both nips is finally coming back!x
