Hope we’re all well.
I’m looking for your best tips and tricks on recovery from a laboaplasty using the trim method. I have a feeling wedge is less invasive but trim is what I’ve got to go for, so here we are!
How was sitting and sleeping during your recovery?
Do you have any trousers you’d recommend getting? My post op info says skirts for 3 weeks but is this necessary or are loose trousers OK?
How did you wash your surgery site? Shower?
How long before you could walk without discomfort?
That’s all I can think of for now!
Hey stef, I had the wedge but this might help?
How was sitting and sleeping during your recovery? First few nights are uncomfortable but I never took more than paracetamol and arnica, buy an airport pillow to sit on trust me.
Do you have any trousers you’d recommend getting? Just pj bottoms really, nothing tight
My post op info says skirts for 3 weeks but is this necessary or are loose trousers OK? I was in trousers by 10 days but defo not before
How did you wash your surgery site? Shower? I was told not to shower with any soaps for a fee weeks, just let the water run off before that.. I washed with saline solution after every wee
How long before you could walk without discomfort? day 1-3 I took off work (mon-wed) day 4/5 at work I was just waddling a bit, by the Monday (7 days after) i was fine. I even went to the gym around 20 days after xx
I had trim, dr Mileto said the wedge can have more complications? Unsure how true but went with it. I’m now 1 week post op and am so happy with it.
Up until yesterday I was sitting and sleeping with my legs spread wide, my swelling wasn’t bad at all (different for everyone) but it felt weird my legs closing on it. This was uncomfortable but alright. 1 week post op and the only thing I notice is when I go toilet I need to dab and when showering just use water and don’t spray directly on it. And every now and again the stitches ITCH like omg looool best advice for that is stick a gel ice pack on it and freeze the itch away hahaaa
As for trousers, I wore loose trackies the whole time as it’s too cold for skirts and they were fine. Yesterday 6 days PO I wore tights, the non sculpting ones and it was fine.
As for walking, agree with Lucie, by yesterday I was walking normal again, before that it’s just a bit of a waddle!
Feel free to message me if you want to ask anything. Good luck with your journey 🙂 xx
Hey gals, thanks so much for your replies! Reassuring for sure. I thought I’d be waddling for ages!
I’ve bought some bits from Shein (cheap and cheerful), long hoody dresses and baggy jogger type longewear so I hope they’ll be okay for me.
Do you wear no pants or normal pants with a pad in them? I’ll ask my surgeon at my preop at the end of the month but I’ve seen recovery advice on YouTube saying your pants crotch shouldn’t touch your incisions so I wondered if you had to wear your pants weirdly!! Haha!
Have a great rest of recovery! X
Hey stef, I wear big cotton pants all day comfortably without a pad but I didn’t get any bleeding so i didn’t really feel a need to wear one (except the day you leave after surgery, wear the massive pad they give you!). I wore a pad on just one day that I had to wear trousers Just to stop any rubbing which helped but in skirts and dresses it feels fine without. I hadn’t heard anything about the pants not being allowed to touch it, my pants have been on in a normal way and no issues!! If you want to wear a pad my nurse said to use basic ones as the extra soaky up ones have bigger holes which the stitches can catch in, hope this helps! Xx
Thanks Kat! That does help! Happy healing!
