I’m having a re-aug and my surgeon has offered me mentor textured instead of motiva smooth that I currently have, because motiva don’t do the exact size that we have decided on. He did say that he could do a special order for mentor smooth but said that the textured are not pourous like the allergen ones that have caused all of the cancer scares (if they can even prove their linked). But I am therefore worried about going for a textured!! Although they also have benefits of reducing capsular contracture?! And rotating?! Any advice that that you can give, would be greatly received!

Textured do have less chance of capsular contracture and rotation, but rotation is only applicable for tear drop implants, as it doesn’t matter if round ones rotate. The risk of ALCL cancer is small and so far only Allergan have had to recall their implants. If he says he can order the smooth ones and that’s what you want, then go for that.

Are textured still the preferred choice? My surgeon didn’t seem too worried either way!

I think both are equally popular, although smooth its probably more common than textured these days for round implants.

Textured also reduces risk of rippling and don’t drop as much in regards to gravity over time not drop and fluff

I heard textured takes longer than smooth to drop and fluff, but they sag less over time?

I think the cancer risk is 1:34,000 whereas the risk of capsular contracture is more likely that this. I chose textured!
