Hi ladies, I had my op on Monday and I know reading peoples experiences beforehand made me feel like I was going into everything more prepared. Sorry it will be a bit of an essay but I hope it can help someone!

My admission time was 11am at the Fitzroy, where the nurse took me to my room, where I was shown where everything was, gown, hat, slippers, dressing gown, the super sexy paper knickers we all can’t wait to wear hah!
I was told there were some delays and because I was an overnight stay, to expect to be one of the last to be operated on. Now, I hadn’t eaten since 7pm the night before and hadn’t drank anything since 8am that morning, so when Dr Fiumara came to draw on me at around 3 pm-ish, I fainted on her (which she said is completely normal, doesn’t stop it being utterly embarrassing though haha) from that point onwards I wasn’t allowed to leave the bed at all. I went up to surgery around 5ish and the lady telling me I was the last one of the day so they were quite happy haha I remember a guy who was part of the op team coming in not sure when he started his shift tomorrow and asked me if I wanted to do it for him because I would be here early anyways, and I said I’m not sure I’d be up for it but I could try if they gave me a crash course haha I just really liked how they were joking with me right up until I went under, I know that might not be everyones cup of tea, but I think they can read you quite well and know if you’re quite nervy etc and how to deal with you whilst your laying there ready to go into theatre, which I won’t lie, is a mixture of nerves and excitement!

Then I woke up with boobs! Boobs which were at the same level and not asymmetric! They are currently feeling a bit small but I’m hoping with D&F they will change a bit more! I had 400cc & 375 unders and I’m a size 12 so praying they will be at least a small d cup! I know there is months worth of recovery ahead but hopefully it is all worth it!

I honestly cannot stress enough how lovely everyone on the day at the Fitzroy was, from the nurses, to the theatre staff. They honestly can’t do enough for you and are there within minutes. The only problem I had was one of the nurses who came to help me out of bed, put my buzzer back on the wall and it took me like 45 minutes to pull myself up and try to get out of bed to reach it to ask for pain relief, when another nurse came to my rescue and helped me straight away( haha sorry sounding so dramatic!) I had to stay in until 5pm the next day, as my chaperone got so lost driving in London, and they kept offering me tea and toast and I had pain relief as and when I needed it.

The pain itself really hasnt been what I expected, but then I was preparing myself for the worst, but it honestly for me feels like i’ve just had a really good gym work out, and after the first day, ive been able to get myself up out of bed each hour I’m awake fine. I would just advise anyone to get a back rest, as well as a batwing pillow as it has a little bit to support your bum and, touch wood, so far I haven’t had any back pain. I’ve also been using a travel pillow, which I think has helped as I have something supporting my neck! I think I have just been extremely lucky so far which I am so thankful for. I’ve set alarms for all my meds too so I’m waking up at weird times of the night, but thats another thing I’d advise so you don’t wake up in pain!

Im trying to upload pics, not that you can see much right now as I’m all taped up until monday when I get my dressings changed, but not having much luck!!

RE post op bras- I got a bit obsessed and bought a macom, a recova, high impact sports bras as well as these bras from asda, and my surgeon ended up picking the asda bras, 2 for £15 and they are cotton so, so comfortable. I got a bit annoyed that I spent all that money on the fancy ones haha but the recova one is really nice too, and is more bra shaped!

Sorry for the essay but I hope this helps someone slightly if they are worried about the experience, and feel free to ask me any questions! This forum helped me so much when I was researching! Fern xxx
