Hi girls, if you want a detailed closed rhinoplasty recent experience then carry on reading. Since the age of 16 I became quite self-conscious about my nose. I was hit in the face which caused a sight bump on the left side of it and made it appear wonky. It wasn’t broken but it just looked different from both sides. Other people couldn’t see what I saw but I did and it really annoyed me. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to change about myself and I knew one day I would. A couple of months ago I just thought screw it, I’m definitely going to get a nose job so I might as well do it now when I’m 20 and young rather than wait years and hate my nose. My dad told me it would be cheaper to go abroad but I just didn’t want to take the risk of going outside the UK and it going wrong. Plus flying back with a huge ass plaster on my face would be quite shitty and embarrassing. I googled surgeries in London and a few came up but MYA just stood out to me. The website was very pretty and just appealed to me to be honest because you could pay monthly. I got a call back straight away after filling in the call back form and booked myself a consultation.
When I arrived I really liked the setting of the place, the girls were all friendly at reception and I didn’t have to wait long to meet my patient coordinator. She was absolutely lovely and we just went through everything about the nose job. I wanted a closed rhinoplasty because it was more affordable and could fix the things I wanted to change. Kate was really understanding about how I wanted to finance the procedure and gave me options. After my consultation, I booked to see Dr Gonschior. I wasn’t nervous to be honest but more anxious to see what he would say. When I came in, Kate was with me and him and I just spoke about what I wanted to change. He touched my nose a few times, showed me in the mirror what he could do. Even drew sketches for me and asked me which one I preferred. He answered all my questions and basically told me that he could straighten out my nose, shave down the sides so it was straight from the sides and get rid of the small bump on the side. He did say he couldn’t lift my nose because that would have to be an open rhinoplasty so my tip would stay the same or could even droop down slightly a bit more. I felt really comfortable and pleased with him so I was positive to go ahead.
I can honestly say that without Kate it would have been so tough to get this nose job because my finance got declined twice which was so disappointing because the two consultations id had, really pumped me up. She managed to get a MYA special loan for me which actually in the long run saves me so much money. I pay half the amount up front and then two instalments over 6 months with basically no VAT, just a small MYA fee. She really did push and push and finally got me there which I am so grateful for. She called me frequently to keep me up to date with what I had to do. I went in for my pre op with the nurse, signed a few documents and finally it was the day of my nose job.
I went in for an early submission at 7:30am, waited half an hour with my dad then they took us to our room. I took a urine test to check if I was up the duff and the nurse checked my blood pressure. I was lucky enough to get to see Dr G first so I was the first to go in at 9:30am. He came and it was good to chat and double check he remembered what I wanted. I said I trust him and his judgment so whatever he thought was best was cool. A general anaesthetic came in after, made me sign a few things and asked questions. Long story short, I was taken to the theatre room with a nurse, then asked more questions and finally was put to sleep which was weird as fuck. Next thing I know I’m awake and surprisingly, I didn’t feel drugged up at all. The first thing I said to the guy next to me was ‘yay I didn’t die’. I was taken back to my room at 11:30 where I literally face timed my family then watched a movie. It felt okay and not what I expected. I had no pain but the shit thing about what happened to me was my throat was really itchy because of the breathing tube so I kept coughing and coughing. The nurse was alright and helped me out by bringing me water and constantly wiping my nose and changing the white band under my nostrils. Anyway I was picked up around 4 and went home. I have to say for 6 days, I felt shit. I could barely eat because the tube fucked up my throat and made it swell up so it hurt to even swallow my own spit. Eventually it went down because I forced myself to eat and drink a lot of water and milk. My bruising was bad around the 2-5 day period but it went down after a week and within 2 weeks it was all gone. I didn’t have any problems to be honest which I’m thankful for because I’ve read up on how some people develop infections and weird shit.
I went for my post op and when I first saw my nose, I was shocked because it was so straight and looked pinched. I was not used to it so it just felt weird. I loved it but hated it. Plus I had loads of blackheads which was gross. After a few hours I loved my nose, I’m not even joking. I got used to it and now I love it. I’m 20 days post op so it is slightly swollen and I know it will go down but I like it how it is now, let alone how it will be in a few months. It’s straight from both sides and straighter than before from the middle. I know that I don’t have a symmetrical face which is why I look different from certain angles but you know what, I’m okay with that now. I think people strive for perfection when in reality, it just doesn’t exist unless you’ve been blessed with genes like Megan Fox or Kendall Jenner. It looks really natural and I still look like me which is important. I’m very happy with Dr G because he did what I asked of him and I feel good. I always go with my gut and I just felt positive about doing this rhinoplasty at MYA with Dr Gonschior. Always go with your gut; if you don’t feel right then don’t do it because it is a major change and could go either way. You shouldn’t feel worried and uncomfortable with the practice and the surgeon because if the nose turns out not what you expected, you’ll blame them and yourself for not following your gut instinct. I have my next appointment next month I think so it’ll be good to see the difference when they show me the pictures. I really am thankful for Dr Gonschior for doing it the way I wanted it. Can’t wait to see him and thank him in a few months personally. I’m also so grateful for Kate because she made this happen for me so if you get Kate Davis as your patient coordinator and Dr Gonschior as your surgeon, you’re in good hands! If anyone wants to see before and after pictures, feel free to message me! I hope everyone has a positive experience like mine. Also a word of advice, don’t admit to CERTAIN things (if you get what I mean) that do not need to be admitted to because it will just cost you unnecessary money, TRUST ME. Good luck!

    Hi Maria
ive just sent you a friend request. I’m really considering a nose job ive wanted it for so long. I’ve just read where you say you’re 20 and decided to get the nose job so you don’t spend years hating your nose I wish i had done that! I’m 25 and i HATE my nose, have done for so long! I’ve now finished uni and have a good job so i can finally afford to save up for it. Im hoping to get it done this year.
How obvious is your nose job?
I don’t want a drastic change just something subtle, I don’t want to completely change the way i look.
You said your nose looked pinched is that good or bad? How is the swelling as more time is passing?
