My surgery is booked for the 30 of this month I’ve had my nurse appointment ,only found out few days ago that no one can come with me or pick me up or look after me for the 24 hours that the nurse said it a legal requirement ,i don’t think it’s fair for mya to charge for rescheduling for Somthing out my hands I still want to have surgery on that day,I’ve had 3 relatives cancel on me so no other choice but to reschedule ,dos any one no how much they Will charge me as my pc has not got back to me yet xxxxx

do you have to have someone with you when you have your surgery? why is that I haven’t told a lot of people wanted to keep it hush and my partner will be watching my children so I was going to go on my own. are you sure you have to have someone their with you xx

Not with you during surgery but to look after you afterwards ,I was told for 24 hours there has to be some one with you to keep eye on you , nurse said Somthing about who ever looks after you for the 24 hour is legally responsible so they have to make sure if any thing Gos wrong to call ambulance straight away

God How bad , I didn’t know they charged for that I could understand if just were trying to change a few days before but they still have plenty of time to fill the space for the 30th , @carly sexton they never gave me anything extra when the re scheduled me for a day later only the week before my op did they offer you anything when they asked you to move dates ? How are you doing Carly? X x

Oh and if your paying £500 to reschedule you may as well keep it as the 30th and use the £500 to book the overnight stay at the clinic that way nurses look after you and you don’t have to pay for taxi or hotel on top of it then x

I was told £750. You need someone with you for 24 hours incase something goes wrong and you pass out you need someone to ring the ambulance. My fella came with me, I left the hospital 1 hour after coming round and then he went to work when we got home and left me with the kids ? I was fine though didn’t feel like I’d had surgery at all xx

That’s what the nurse said to me that I have to have some one there for the 24 hours, well I’ve told my pc and she’s told me I’ll have to pay £500 cause it very close ,so I’ve text her back and told her I’ll go ahead with it on my own and she still not text me back ,id understand if I was going on holiday and they wanted to charge me for reschedule but under the circumstances I don’t think they should, really stressed out now just gonna have it done xx

They asked me for £120 to pick a different date. I ended up keeping my date but still… £750??? Or even £500? That’s horrendous! Xx

I was told that before I booked the date that if I needed to reschedule it would cost about £500, you should of been made aware of this when u booked? X

Just be careful Hun, My PC wanted wrote down on my file the name of my Chaperone at Pre op, I was told that if you didn’t have a chaperone with you on the day they won’t do the surgery. Just double check hun, as would hate for you to turn up on the day and they still won’t do the surgery as you are on your own. Also The Fitzroy wouldn’t let you leave on your own either.. good luck..xxx

To be honest it does say in all the information you are given and you have to sign that you have to have someone with you. It’s only common sense, imagine if something happened to you on your way home? They would be at fault. I wouldn’t go and try and get it done alone because they just won’t operate on you.

I’m not willing to pay another £500 because no one can come with me tbh I can’t afford it ,I don’t think it’s fair if I had to re arrange a few days before I’d understand but it was 3 weeks before when I told pc,I’m Gonna ring the clinic tomorrow see what they say about it

But surely you read the information you would have been given at your first consulatation? This does state you have to have someone to pick you up and stay with you afterwards. It’s mainly to cover their back in case anything happens to you, if something did you could then make a claim for negligence, which they won’t risk. They will not go ahead with the operation unless you have someone to pick you up.

It’s not good that it’s so expensive but I’m being completely honest, it’s your fault you didn’t read the information because you would have signed it at the consultation stage too.
