    Hi girls,

I was wondering anybody who had a nose job done, how long did it take for the bruising and the swelling to go down? I’ve asked a few of the girls on here, but also wanted to see who else has had a nose job and compare time differences. I’m planning to get it done exactly one month before returning to university, but i’m very nervous and bit put off that the bruising and swelling will still be evident when I return! Also, did anybody have any infection or complications after?

Any advice and help would be amazing 🙂

    Hi,
I still had a bit of bruising when the cast came off at 15 days all bruising went at about 3 weeks. Your nose can be swollen for up to a year afterwards, however other people won’t really notice this. I am always pointing out areas that are swollen to family and they haven’t a clue what I’m on about as it looks normal to them. One thing may be your smile, it took me until 6 weeks po to get mine back but it can take up to 12 weeks I’ve been told. You can smile however it looks bizarre! No infections, I thought I had one but it was just irritated with me having hayfever. Good luck!

Are you having open or closed?
I had closed and I’m now about 7 weeks post op and my selling has gone down a lot since I or my cast off. The only this that was noticeable was my smile- it took about 4 weeks to come back. Still feels weird if I touch my nose but no one will notice the swelling I month po op so don’t worry 🙂 feel free to add me to see pictures x

Thanks girls, I hadn’t even thought about the smile! What do you mean it took a while to come back? Can you not smile, or what is it you mean by this? x

My bruising and swelling took 9 days to go as I was taking arnica which works a charm 🙂 I would definitely recommend taking it, it’s just a herbal remedy to prevent and speed up bruising! I’m 4 weeks post op now and my nose is amazing, there is still swelling and will be up to a year but its not noticeable to anybody but me as I look at it all the time ha ha! To everyone else it’s perfect. It gets smaller and smaller everyday so I couldn’t be happier! Don’t worry about the bruising or swelling no1 will notice anything especially after a month when you go back to Uni!
Also I didn’t feel any pain throughout just abit uncomfortable not being able to breathe at night but its just like having a cold and not breathe through your nose!!
    Good luck xx

    Hi,
I took arnica and all of my bruising went after a week…my swelling is still up and down now after six weeks but Dr G said it can up up to a year to go down. You will be absolutely fine after a month I’m sure.

The smile thing is weird…it is something to do with the nerves underneath your nose I think – it just looks a bit fake and unnatural. I went to Glastonbury three weeks post op and I look so akward and uncomfortable in all of my photos because I was so concious about how weird/creepy my smile looked but it’s almost back to normal now. It’s all worth it though!

Hello 🙂 I’ve just had mine done on Monday, and I’m still in the cast. Everything is fine, no pain really, it’s just irritating that I can barely swallow because I’m so bunged up. I was freaking out on the day but I have no regrets. You take antibiotics 4 times a day to keep away infections, good luck!xxx
