    Hiya girls ,

I’m just wondering if anyone can help me…. I’ve had my first consultation and they’ve included a overnight stay. Do you know if this is optional as I’ve heard some people have stayed overnight and some haven’t (day case) so I’m confused as to why they say for some people to stay overnight and others as a day case? It’s just I would prefer to stay in the comfort of my own home but I didn’t know if anyone asked for this after them including this in the first consultation? Also anyone know if there’s an additional cost to stay overnight?

Hi, I think it depends on how far away you live from the hospital. If you live down the road there shouldn’t be any issues with returning to the hospital if anything goes wrong after you’ve been discharged. I was offered day case but only if I stayed at a local hotel, I’ve decided to stay overnight because I don’t want to take any chances.

Ah right I did wonder if that was why. It would make sense as I do live over 2 hours away from the hospital so that’s probably why like you say. I have heard a few people say they stayed in a hotel nearby but I’m very much in two minds if it’s just best and safer staying overnight in the hospital than risking staying at a local hotel.

    Hi Lucy

I didn’t have to stay overnight as I live 20 mins from the hospital but I have to say I would totally have stayed in the hospital overnight rather than a hotel. They have all the pain killers, the food is great and the beds are adjustable so much more comfortable. Not to mention the hospital is way nicer than most 5 star hotels I have stayed in 😂. I had my surgery at the New Victoria Hospital, any chance that’s where you are booked?

Yeah the pain killers and ongoing care in the hospital overnight is one of the reasons I’d probably prefer to stay at the hospital than risk staying elsewhere. Haha I have heard the hospitals are suppose to be amazing which is a bonus and the adjustable beds will come in handy 😂 no im actually going to Preston hospital but I’m like 2 hours away from there so that’s probably why they’ve said to stay overnight.

Mya have a mileage cap. So if it’s over 60/70 miles yeah advise to stay over night. Due to COVID I heard some girls were being refunded for over night cases. Maybe ask your PC if you can book a local Hotel and stay there instead

Ah right well I’m definitely over 70 miles away so that’ll be why then! Il ask my PC and see what they say and advise to do. Thank you for your reply x

I’m say as you, I’ve paid the extra for an overnight stay at Preston as I live 100mile away x it’s peace of mind aswell for me so I don’t mind, safest place to be plus I can imagine drive home being awful straight after x my husband is staying nearby so he can drop me off and pick me up next morning x

They offered me an over night stay but the price was ridiculous. I live in South Wales and op was in new Victoria hospital London. But I booked an hotel 4 mins from the hospital for £70 for 2 nights. Xxx

God you can’t complain at that price, I’m sure it was an extra 300 for overnight stay x
