    Hi ladies,

I am part of the front line emergency services so have a pretty physical & unpredictable job!
I’m having a BA & modified lift in November & was wondering if there are any of you in similar positions, & how well have you managed after a BA?
I’ve been told by my surgeon I can go back to normal duties after 6 weeks p/o, but I’m worried I still might not be ready! I don’t want to do anything to disrupt my healing, put myself in pain or be a liability for my colleagues.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated 🙂

    Thanks in advance 🙂 xx

Hi I work in healthcare and it’s quite physical but probably no where near as much as your job is, I took 3 weeks off but could of done with four even though I recovered really well is surprising what you use your chest muscles for as your having a lift aswell I would take as much time off as you possibly can, I hope that helps xx

Thank you Jamie – did you go back to normal after the 3 weeks? I’ve got 2 weeks off completely & then a further 4 weeks doing desk work before I go back to normal. I’m hoping this will be enough xx

Hey Tiffany, I had my op one year ago. I also have a very physical, demanding job and I was so scared to go back to work. I’m cabin crew. I was off work for 4 weeks but I still didn’t feel ready to go back, I will never forget my first day back trying to close hat bins, trying to open or close the door and carry my own bag for work trips, the first week was an absolute nightmare and I was still in pain and ideally I should of took more time off but luckily I didn’t do any damage and I got through it. By 6/7 weeks I did feel better. I’d say by 6 weeks you will be ready to go back. Just don’t do much until you feel ready. Are you having under or over the muscle? I had under and that’s why my recovery was so painful as it takes so much longer to recover. I know girls who had overs and they were perfectly fine and felt great at day 10 and we’re back to work. Some days I couldn’t even flush the toilet LOL but honestly it’s all been so worth it, I just wouldn’t like to do it all again in a hurry haha! Hope this helps 🙂 xxx

Thank you Stephanie! I’m having 300cc unders & a modified lift so I’m expecting to be pretty useless for a while! I’m planning on being very lazy over the two weeks in hope it might help to speed up recovery.
I’ll listen to my body & see how things go! How have you found recovery overall? Your results are amazing by the way xx

Yes I went straight back in after 3 weeks, if your having a total of 6 weeks out of the physical side fingers crossed that should be ok, i still wear a really thick post op bra on my shifts now even 4 months post op xx

Thanks Jamie! I’ve bought a high impact sports bra from m&s to hopefully hold them in nicely when I run or whatever! Xx
