hey all so im new to the forums and i am super excited and nervous about my surgery coming up also mainly im scared of the anesthetic running out while im in surgery so i guess the question is

How did everyones anesthetic experience go??
as i have a bad history of needing a double dose haha so im abit of a tank to put to sleep,

also i get sick after it so do they give you anti-sickness tablets at all afterwards or any pain killers ect..??

my other question is what should i take to the hospital with me on the day like i have the Macom bra’s the V pillow and button up pj’s, baby wipes, slippers and my ipad is that all i need? 😛

Also im having a over night stay so how does it work with my partner dropping me off ect
can he stay around with me untill i go into surgery then come back after my surgery or are they only allowed to drop me off and see me the next day??

thanks in advance for answering any of the questions above

    Nikita x

Hiya hun i was really scared too and i they had to give me medication to bring me round from the anesthetic which brought me round really quickly it was a shock and i was shaking for a while but they wrapped me up in a blanket which helped. They put local anesthetic in your breast pockets and morphine while your under. They offer you antisicknees after too. Id recommend take two size bras i was really swollen. X

Hey I’m not much help to the first few questions as I wasn’t AS frightened of the whole staying asleep bit I was more scared of the needle lol! I kind of didn’t have time to panic though lol! It’s all over so quick and so worth it! Anaesthetic into the hand, and an anethatist with u at all times…. They give you all the tablets medication u need, they leave the canual in your hand untill the next day incase you’re in need of any stronger pain killers they can put into you through there!

I took a little suitcase packed with button up pjs, dressing gown, wipes, slippers, and a zip up hoody with leggings, the only thing I needed out of that was my leggings and zip up hoodie to get myself home lol. Rest of the time I was in my gown, the dressing gown provided and the slippers provided lol!

My mom came with me to London, she stayed in a travel lodge about a 10 min walk, she was with me from 10am when I got shown to my room, went and got herself a bite to eat when I went for my op then was back before I was, she then stayed up untill 9:30pm on the evening of the day of my op (the nurses didn’t realise she was still there but she was meant to leave at 8pm which is visiting times) then she was back the following morning at 8, and discharge time was anything before 10:30am. Me being me wanted to get out quick as I could lol was so fed up just 1 night lol!! They’re pretty good for that, theres a comfy chair in the room for them! Hope this helps. X

    hey Becky
    thank you for replying
it sounds like they are really friendly enough and the morphine and everything sounds
good i think it depends on what they use wether it be gas and air or needle form.
    thanks for your input. x
