Hi Vicky. I have two kids, a boy who is 7 and a girl who is 9. I didn’t say a thing to them until about a week before I was going into hospital and I still only said then I was going in to hospital and nothing more. Luckily for me they weren’t that bothered haha but when it came to the day before my op and my partners sister was having them for the night (booked a hotel the night before to save on the long journey) they asked me then. I told them that it isn’t anything bad and they shouldn’t worry and that I would be alright just a little sore afters. Once the op was done the next day we picked them up on the way home and my daughter asked what was hurting and I was honest and said my boobies. Later in the day she asked a bit more of why I needed to have an operation on my boobs and I told her that because I had two beautiful children my boobies disappeared because they were used to feed them when they were younger and I wanted them to look how they were before. She accepted that really well and said aww ok. Since then all they have wanted to do was brush my hair, teeth, they make their own lunches and clean up and do chores. Been a massive help. Remember all kids want/need to know is that their parents are ok and they have nothing to worry about so constant reassurance is a must. If I was you I really wouldn’t say anything too soon or there is a long wait until your op for too many questions lol I just left it late and got it over with with minimal questioning. Good luck ???? xx

I didn’t tell mine anything prior, then I told them I’d hurt myself when she asked what the bandages were for. My daughter a few weeks following surgery asked why I didn’t have big boobs like nanny so after all that they didn’t even notice their Mum now has bloody boobs !

Ha! My older son was watching Geordie shore & the younger one asked about Holly’s boobs & then went, “did she have surgery like you mom?” 🙂 Ok so he’s figured it all out himself!

I’ve got a 8 year old and I told her that I was going to buy some new boobs she was like why???? A said because nana and auntie (my older sister) was greedy and took all the boobies and they left me with nothing her reply was so does that mean I need to buy some when I. Bigger a said no because your the older sister and y9ull be the one that’s got the bigger boobs and she was happy about that. Yes she’s 8 but she’s very mature for her age and I’m not the type of mum to hide anything from her I tell her things and she tells me things ive always let her be open and never kept anything from her so she was very understanding once I told her it’s to make Mr feel better and then I’ll be able to take her and her little sister swimming more etc xxx

I found it difficult to explain to my 12 year old year why I was having the op done. I was always going on about how she is beautiful and perfect how she is so I felt guilty for some reason about getting a cosmetic procedure. But I just sat her down and explained how it had made me feel so unhappy not having any breasts at all and that getting it done would boost my confidence. She was absolutely fine with it l, although she did think my procedure would only cost £30 haha!

That’s exactly how I feel Megan!!! I want my girls to have the body confidence I never have and feel a hypocrite. It’s not going to stop me having the procedure but I want to be careful what I tell them. Or maybe I need to not overthink it too much?!

I meant to say 12 year old sister. Exactly Vicky, I found it hard especially cos she’s at that age where puberty’s kicking in and they’re all really body conscious. I think they understand better than we give them credit for xxx
