14 New Year’s Resolutions That Are ACTUALLY Useful 0

Wednesday 4th January, 2017 | Lifestyle |

Well now that 2016 is over with (thank god) we have the joys of looking forward to a New Year and you know what that means: a New Year’s resolution is required. But what is a New Year’s resolution actually?

“A New Year’s resolution is a decision to do or not do something in order to accomplish a personal goal or break a habit. It comes at a time when people look back at the past year and make an effort to improve themselves as the New Year begins.”

Right, so why do we want to conform to the typical resolutions of losing weight, giving up chocolate or exercising more? You tend to break as soon as mid-January rolls around anyway and you can’t say “no” to the Chinese takeaway calling your name or the fact you have only stepped foot in the gym once to use the sauna. So why not be creative with your 2017 ‘self-improvements’ and try one or all of our 14 actually useful New Year’s resolutions:

Examples below

1. I will stop being nice to cute guys who I know are jerks

2. I will try to figure out why I really need ten e-mail addresses and maybe cut down to 2

3. I will try and work out what every makeup brush I have is actually used for

4. I will spend less time on the Internet (like cut down to 3-6 hours…)

5. I will watch more TV. It’s very educational. Catch up on all those programmes I’ve missed through the years

6. I will stop exercising, because it is such a waste of time (maybe I’ll eat less..)

7. I will dedicate more time to me – do less washing and use more perfume

8. I will only eat milk chocolate (not white or dark)

9. I will read more. Like the important stuff on Daily Mail, not just the celeb gossip

10. I will be more open to conversations with new people (so hold a 10 min conversation with my Uber driver but not about what time he finishes)

11. I will stop posting memes in the group chat

12. I will stop cyber-stalking my ex and his family oh and his new girlfriend

13. I will have more energy in life (drink more coffee from Starbucks probably)

14. I will buy jeans a size bigger and brag about how much weight I have lost (they will never know)
