It’s all about Galentine’s Day this February 0

Wednesday 13th February, 2019 | Lifestyle |

Tired of the lovey-dovey relationship stuff this Valentine’s Day? Then try out Galentine’s Day instead and celebrate the real star in your life, your bestie!

If you’re new to Galentine’s, it was first mentioned in the US sitcom, Parks and Recreations in 2010 by the ultimate lady boss Lesley Knope.

“Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

What started as a fun little character quirk has quickly inspired ladies across the world to get together, chat, laugh, love, share and celebrate each other, and the most wonderful relationship of all, female friendship and empowerment!

1. Make A Date

We live in a busy world and sometimes it’s hard to book in lady dates, so having our very own day dedicating to the awesome women in your life is the perfect excuse to get together.

Have a girls night in, go for cocktails or dancing, treat yourselves to brunch, book in for a fun class or to do activity together or even just meet up for a quick cup of tea to reconnect.

2. BFFS rule!

Your BFF is there for you for ANYTHING; laughs, tears, mood swings, pep talks, advice, support, honesty, zero judgement, taking those killer instagram photos… any time, any place any where, so get together to marvel in your mutual love! Reminisce, cherish your time together, or even plan new adventures together.

3. Girls Stick Together

Valentine’s Day can be a difficult time for those not in relationships or having trouble within their current one, so turning the tables and attention from romantic relationships to (some would say even better) female friendships can make that time of the year so much easier to deal with.
