A favourable diet and a committed exercise regime doesn't always get rid of those stubborn fatty areas. Liposuction can help bring back confidence and a beautiful body shape. During the liposuction procedure, fat cells are removed enabling your body to be sculpted into contours that never seemed achievable. At MYA there are several liposuction options available to you:

LIPOSUCTION METHODS - WHAT TYPES OF LIPOSUCTION ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?

There are surgical & non-surgical liposuction options available to suit your needs:

Vaser Liposuction (Ultrasound Liposuction)
Vaser Liposuction, also referred to as Vaser lipo, is a quick & easy way to lose fat from those problem areas without the need for an overnight hospital stay. It is a minimally invasive Ultrasound treatment that can target multiple areas at once; this means that you can lose up to 4 litres of fat from various parts of your body whilst having a relatively short recovery period - some patients even return to work the next day!

Average recovery time: A couple of days

Laser Lipolysis
Not to be confused with laser liposuction, laser lipolysis (or laser lipo) is a procedure carried out under local anaesthetic with results that can be seen within hours. This amazing technique combines the latest laser lipo technology with suction-assisted fat removal and Liposculpture with fantastic results. Laser liposuction has also been known to stimulate and contract skin to ensure a perfect final result is achieved and you're not left with unwanted loose skin.

Average recovery time: A couple of days

Surgical Liposuction
Popular in both men & women of all ages, Surgical Liposuction is suitable when tackling larger quantities of fat and often requires an overnight stay. This is often carried out to accompany another procedure such as a tummy tuck. The procedure can take up to 2 hours to complete however depending on the extent of the surgery, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks up to 1 month to recover fully.

Average recovery time: 2 weeks - 1 month

LIPOSUCTION / FAT REMOVAL SURGERY

Liposuction should never be considered as a cure for obesity. Liposuction achieves its best results when you are at your naturally healthy weight. It can assist in removing small sections of fat which can enable your clothes to appear to fit better and re-establish that 'feel good' factor back into your life. Several designated areas can be treated in one surgery, and it's not uncommon for liposuction to be performed in unison with another procedure.

For example it is common to have a tummy tuck and liposuction performed at the same time. This procedure is popular for both men and women of all ages.

MOST POPULAR LIPOSUCTION AREAS

The most popular areas for liposuction are the:

  • Abdomen
  • Thighs

A SIMPLE & SAFE PROCEDURE

Liposuction is performed under local or general anaesthetic. The most popular areas are the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks and knees. Through tiny incisions in the skin a hollow tube, or cannula is inserted and the fat is broken down with fluid before being removed by a syringe or vacuum pump. The procedure can last approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the technique, the extent of the surgery and how many areas are being treated.

QUICK RECOVERY

You will probably need a few days off work to recover however this does depending on the extent of surgery more time may be needed. You will notice that after the procedure the areas that were operated on will be bruised and swollen and this can last a few weeks. It is important that a suitable support or compression garment is worn for at least a month after the procedure as this helps to reduce the swelling. You will not be able to exercise for at least a couple of weeks.
