So I got my admission time yesterday and it’s 2pm On Monday at Preston. Has anyone had this admission time and what time did they get to leave? I know it will vary dependant on what time you go down to theatre but just wanted to get an idea

Hi Sheren. How exciting you have got your date and time sorted, you will be counting down the hours.
I had my op in Preston last Tuesday. Please take into account there are big roadworks and diversions near the hospital so its really confusing to find it, our sat nav was sending us round in circles. The hospital is down a country lane, please give your self plenty of extra time to allow for this. I live about 40 mins away from the hospital, but I gave my self an extra hour to find it.
My admission time was 3PM, I arrived at 2.20 and they took me straight through to my room.
I had my op at 4.30pm and was out at 10.45pm.
Make sure the person with you has something to read or computer and snacks/drinks, they will be waiting for a long time. I think there is a vending machine, but I dont think there is a cafe or place to get a meal.
good luck hun, its a lovely hospital and they will make you very comfortable xx

Thanks @beckis I can’t wait now! My partner will be coming with me, is he able to come into my room whilst I wait to be operated on and can he wait there when I go down or does he have to leave the room? Is there a tv in the room? I live about 45 mins away but just trying to decide whether to tell him to go out and come back or just to wait.
How are you feeling after your op? Hope recovery is going well for you x

Your partner can come into your hospital room with you right from the begining, there is a TV which I think costs £5 to activate. We didnt use the TV, we brought an i-pad and laptop, wi-fi cost £5 for one device or £10 for 3 devices.
The chair for your partner is not very comfy, when you go in to theatre he can continue to wait in your room, or he can go through to the lounge area where there are comfy chairs and couches.
Last Tuesday was a very busy day because it was first day back after Easter weekend, so I think the staff were really busy. My hubby did’t get offered any tea or coffee etc, he doesn’t really drink it anyway, but I would makesure your boyfriend has brought something to eat and drink or he may have to go out and find a cafe or shop xx
Its nicer for you if he stays with you, when I came round from my anaesthetic the first person I asked for was my hubby.
its a really lovely hospital xx

My admission is 8am. I live 2.5 hrs away. Dreading these bloody roadworks. My mams taking me and doesn’t want to stay away for two nights as she’s a carer for my brother so we staying overnight on the Tuesday after my op. So will have to set off from home at like 5. Will three hours be enough do you think? X

@jessy6067 Hi Jessica, yes I am sure that will be fine because there will be no traffic on the roads at all at that time of the morning and its great you are staying at the hotel on the night of your op, you deffo won’t feel like sitting in a car for 3 hours straight after your operation.
The hospital will know how far you’ve travelled and I’m sure will be very accomodating. Not long now Jessica, is it on Tuesday your op?Are you getting excited?

My admission time was 2pm! I went down about 4pm and left about 10pm. The anaesthetic made me sick though so i probably could have left an hour or more earlier if I had have been well enough!
    Good luck for everything xx

@beckis Hopefully be enough time! And yeah it’s Tuesday. Yeah I’m looking forward to it just starting to get abit nervous. Last day of work tomorrow and then I’m off for 17 days. I’m able to sign that paperwork tomorrow and it will be fine so that’s something not to worry about now thank god! Hope everything is going well with your recovery xxx
